East Midlands RR Championships
Returning to UK competition in top form, Adam Lewis secured a dominant victory in the East Midlands Road Race Championships. Despite initial uncertainty after a period racing abroad, Lewis displayed his aggressive style, joining a breakaway group just 5km into the race.
Working cohesively, the 14-man group established a significant lead, effectively eliminating the rest of the peloton from contention. Heading into the final laps, the breakaway remained intact, barring a few dropped riders. Despite numerous attacks, the group persisted until the final kilometers.
With a pre-determined strategy, Lewis launched an attack from the rear of the group at the base of the finishing climb. This decisive move earned him a crucial gap, leaving only one rider clinging to his wheel. The final 300 meters presented a steep kick to the line, where Lewis surged ahead, dropping his remaining competitor and crossing the finish line in first place.
This victory marks Lewis's first win of the season and his inaugural triumph aboard his Specialized SL8. The race serves as a testament to his exceptional form and strategic prowess.
Tour de Beauce
Team Skyline Cadence had a dominant performance at the Tour de Beauce, securing the overall team classification, the King of the Mountains title, and a stage victory.
Conn Mcdunphy kicked things off with an aggressive performance in stage 1, taking 5th place and setting the stage for a GC challenge. Stage 3, the queen stage, saw Liam Flanigan and Conn dominate the early breakaway, ultimately placing Adam Lewis 5th and securing the team lead in the GC.
The team continued their strong showing in the criterium stage, narrowly missing a perfect lead-out but still achieving a top-13 finish for all four participating riders. Conn capped off the week with a phenomenal solo victory in the challenging circuit of Stage 5.
This impressive performance secured Adam Lewis a 6th place finish in the GC, while Liam Flanigan claimed the KOM jersey. Overall, Team Skyline solidified their position as a top contender with their aggressive racing and exceptional teamwork.
